Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
What is RPL?
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is an alternative pathway towards a qualification under the Australia Qualifications Framework. It is a process of assessing the skills, knowledge, and competencies relating to a particular course that have been achieved through informal and non-formal learning in the workplace (or through other activities such as voluntary work, personal interests, and work done with community organizations).
Sustainability Pty Ltd currently offers a RPL program in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
Who is it applicable to?
RPL is suited to people who have years of experience and competencies in a particular field such as OHS or safety, and who would like to gain a formal qualification, but have no recognized certification to testify to the skills and knowledge they have achieved.
Through workplace observations and evidence of course-related workplace activities, candidates can be formally assessed by RLP advisors to demonstrate their competency in the course criteria.
What do you have to do?
To gain a qualification in OHS through an RPL program, candidates need to complete the set number of units as specified in the course requirements. This does not mean candidates need to attend classes, workshops, or sit exams, but they do need to provide evidence that they can achieve each unit's performance criteria.
To assess whether your experience and competencies are suitable for a RPL program, talk to Sustainability's RPL advisors to work out a program for you.
How long does it take?
The maximum duration of the RPL program is 6 weeks.
Why should I do my RPL program with Sustainability?
- Sustainability's RPL advisors are industry practitioners, not just industry trainers:
In order to provide a rigorous assessment of a candidate's skills, competencies, and knowledge, RPL advisors need to be experienced in the particular industry as well as familiar with the requirements of the RPL process. Our RPL advisors are practicing consultants and auditors, and have many years of work experience behind them. They are empathetic, professional, and extremely capable to guide candidates to a formal qualification. - Pathway to an university qualification:
