The International Cyanide Management Code (ICMC) is a voluntary initiative for the gold mining industry including the producers and transporters of the cyanide used in gold mining.  The Code promotes the safe and environmentally responsible use of cyanide in gold production, transport, and cyanide manufacturing through a range of principles and standards of practice. Companies that become Code signatories commit to periodic independent third-party audits to determine whether their operations can be certified as in compliance with the Code’s Principles and Standards of Practice.  Audits are conducted by auditors meeting International Cyanide Management Institute (ICMI) criteria.

Sustainability’s consultants have extensive experience in both auditing against the Code requirements and consulting to companies that wish to achieve or maintain compliance to the Code.  Sustainability has a number of experienced ICMI accredited lead auditors and technical specialists who are registered with the ICMI and capable of auditing cyanide producers, transporters and gold mine operators against the Code.  Sustainability’s auditors have completed Code certification and re-certification audits globally with technical specialty in metallurgy, cyanide chemistry, hazardous materials transport, chemical manufacturing, and sodium cyanide production.  Our team of ICMI registered professionals have extensive knowledge of the Code’s application for a diverse range of operations and offer practical guidance to clients on the implementation of the Code.  Sustainability has been providing cyanide Code consulting and audit services since 2006 when the Code was first introduced.
