In early October the Sustainable Water Roundtable (SWR) convened for the third quarter meeting, and for the first time the meeting took place outside of Ulaanbaatar. The SWR members travelled first to Dornod province for a site visit to Steppe Gold’s Altan Tsagaan Ovoo Gold Mine. Steppe Gold were exceptional hosts, providing a site tour and detailed presentations about their water monitoring and management plans, followed by a dinner for the SWR members and accommodations in camp for the night.
The following day the SWR members travelled to Khentii province, where Kherlen River Basin Authority (RBA) hosted the SWR members for the quarterly meeting. Dr. Baranchuluun, a well-respected hydro engineer, gave a very interesting presentation to the meeting members. The meeting was very productive and the SWR members are very appreciative of the Khentii Government and Kherlen RBA for providing a meeting location and taking time from their schedules to participate.
We are also pleased to welcome Shine Uujim Ord LLC as the newest member of the Sustainable Water Roundtable this fall.
